Mastery of the Key Medical and Environmental Sciences

Over many years, I have become extremely knowledgeable about and have extensive trial experience defeating a multitude of disease claims, including:

  • Leukemias and lymphomas
  • Breast cancer
  • Lung Cancer
  • Colon cancer
  • Gastrointestinal cancer
  • Gynecological cancers
  • Allergy and immunology diseases
  • Neurocognitive, movement and peripheral
    neuropathy disorders
  • Birth defects
  • Cardiovascular and respiratory diseases
  • Psychiatric and psychological disorders
  • Endocrinological abnormalities
  • Male and female reproductive disorders
  • Liver and kidney diseases
  • Blood diseases
  • Dermatological diseases
  • Genetic disorders
  • Developmental abnormalities

I have a thorough understanding of the biology of the most common diseases forming the core of medical and health risk assertions often made in medical causation litigation and by governmental agencies in regulatory proceedings.  Just as important, I have a thorough understanding of how the body’s organs, systems and networks function and potentially malfunction.  I have spent countless hours studying medical textbooks and receiving tutelage from numerous world-leading experts.  This forms the foundation for making biological probability a centerpiece in negating false health causation and risk claims.

On multiple occasions, I was retained by clients as special medical trial counsel for the very purpose of focusing on the diseases listed above. Because I am considered to be one of the nation’s leading experts in cancer cases, I was retained by the General Counsel of one of the world’s largest pharmaceutical companies to defend the then leading breast cancer drug against claims that it caused endometrial cancer.  This case was pending in Santa Barbara, California.  My defense of the drug was a total success and eradicated a national plaintiffs’ campaign.

During my career, I also have concentrated on the environmental sciences necessary to evaluate health risks and causation claims arising from environmental exposures and contamination.  As a result of this concentration, I am well-versed in the essential environmental sciences necessary to address whether any exposure or contamination threatens individual and community health.
